With a network of 21 community-based organizations (CBOs) working actively in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and An Giang Province, as of February 20th 2015, the Community HIV Link-Southern project has identified, reached and provided HIV prevention services to a total of 3200 high-risk key populations (KPs) including 835 injecting drug users, 710 female workers and 1655 men who have sex with men. Among those KPs, 86% have taken an HIV test and 7.4% of the tested KPs had positive results. Among the KPs tested positive, about 76% were successfully linked to the HIV treatment program.
Meanwhile, a total of 1600 people living with HIV (PLHIV) have been cared and supported by the Community HIV Link-Southern teams as of the same time. This number of PLHIV includes the new 203 cases reached and referred to HIV testing by the project, 546 PLHIV in the community identified by the project being not yet linked to the treatment program, 700 PLHIV at outpatient clinic (OPC) not adhering to the treatment and 151 patients who have dropped out of the care program.
