Organisation History

Initially founded in 2005 with the name “Quality of Life Promotion Centre”, the organization operated under the administrative sponsorship of the Psychological and Educational Scientific Association of Ho Chi Minh City. During this period, all members of the organization mainly provided consultancy services for other international organizations and companies. Since 1st August 2007, the Centre of Promotion of Quality of Life (abbreviated as LIFE Centre) was officially established by Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) with full legitimate and independent status as a Vietnamese non-governmental organization as per Decision no. 1078/QĐ-LHH dated 8/1/2007, and Operation Permit no.A-659 dated 8/16/2007.

Mission and Vision

Centre for Promotion of Quality of Life has a mission to promote and enhance the quality of life of vulnerable people and communities by conducting research, training and implementing cost-effective, sustainable and high impact programs.

By 2020, LIFE is the one of the leading organizations in Vietnam in health care, personal development, response to climate change and income generation for poor communities, people at health risks, migrant workers and children with extremely special circumstances through capacity building and resource mobilization innovatively and effectively.

LIFE Governance and Management

LIFE Centre has a liaison office based in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and is currently staffed by 22 full-time professionals who have public health and social science background and experiences in community health education/promotion and worker rights program. LIFE has a team of 60 locally-based staff who work in the provinces where LIFE’s projects are implemented. LIFE is directed by a Board of Management comprised with seven professionals in the field of business administration, financial management, philanthropy and development. All LIFE staffs and Board members are committed towards our core values being Quality, Results-based and Accountability.

Nguyen Nguyen Nhu Trang, MPH | Founder and Director: Ms. Trang’s depth of experience in public health and HIV/AIDS programming over the past 20 years, and her close ties with relevant government, non-government and CBOs make her a good leader of the organization. Ms Trang places gender-sensitivity, meaningful participation of affected populations, and social responsibility at the heart of every activity undertaken by LIFE. Ms Trang has designed and managed various sexual health education, HIV/AIDS prevention and corporate sustainability/worker development programs under LIFE and while she was working with CARE (1994-2003) and the Global Alliance for Workers and Community imitative (GA) of the International Youth Foundation (2004).

Hang Thi Xuan Lan, MD | Co-Founder and Vice Director: Dr. Lan spent five years working as Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the Provincial AIDS Committee (PAC) of Da Nang City and three years with CARE where she managed health promotion, community development and HIV/AIDS projects with various key affected populations. Dr Lan has extensive experience in designing promotional and communication materials. Under “The Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Project” / Civil Society Strengthening/VUSTA Component implemented in HCMC and Binh Duong Province, Dr Lan manages small grants for 24 service delivering community-based organizations (CBOs), as well as coordinating tasks for five project staff and 20 CBO mentors.
